Movie Review - Ayan

I wanted to watch this movie for a loooong time. The moment I saw surya in the trailor, even though I dont like tamanna, I want to watch this movie only for surya. What an actor? He does different roles. He was a stern and serious police office in Khakha Kakha who romanced with Jyotika and then the totally different character in Pithamagan. Now coming to the movie in the discussion.

Nobody would have missed, those who watch the tamil channels of Sun Network, the release date of the movie. Every ad starts off with the trailer as it was released by Sun Pictures. The movie starts brilliantly. With Surya coming back to chennai from Malaysia from where he illegally brings the CD of the latest movie which was not yet released in chennai. The villain party also brings the copy of the CD. But unfortunately the man from the villain gang gets caught by the custom and our hero escapes cleverly. He works for a local bigshot, Prabhu, who does smuggling business in the name of Shipping contract.

The villain frames Prabhu and Surya by informing police about the CD. But both Prabhu and Surya escapes from the police. Instead of them "Nandu" Jagan surrenders to the police. Prabhu takes him out of the bail and takes him as part of his team. Surya and Jegan travels to congo to smuggle diamonds. Another team tries to take over the diamonds but surya saves it and brings it back to India after cheating the custom officials. Like this they keep on smuggling goods. At one point Surya meets Tamanna who happens to be Jagan's sister and both obviously falls in love. But the way it was portrayed is unbelievable.

On the day of Surya's bday, jagan arranges for a trip for the lovers. On the way Surya meets his mom who wanted him to accompany her to the temple and surya leaving off tamanna runs to his mom's side. At that time Surya recieves a call from jagan who says that Surya's mother met with an accident. But Surya can identify that there is a mistake somewhere as his mother is with him. He later finds out that jagan is from the Villan side who was the informer for villan. Surya and Jagan seperates so does Surya and Tamanna after some harsh words from Surya.

Jagan who travels to malaysia for a work for the villan meets Surya in the plane. Jagan who had swallowed 50 pockets of drug to smuggle it is in a bad condition when the plane lands. Surya starts to help him by taking him to a doctor known to him. Doctor refuses to help as drug smuggling in Malaysia will land the offenders in death sentence. The villan party abducts Jagan from Surya and kills him. But Surya was framed.

How Surya saves himself from the law and how he brings the villan to the lime light and whether the lovers got united is the rest of the story.

Backed by strong music and sound camera work Ayan is definetly a watch. Jagan scores high in acting even though not he couldnt match either Surya nor Prabhu. Both the seniors does their role perfectly. Karunas plays a deaf character and he has done his job well though none of his scenes are hilarous. Famous serial actress(forgot her name; think it is Renuka) plays Surya's Moms role. Unlike other movies she has some good scenes. Even though I felt her acting in KB serial was much better than this.

All the songs sounds good. The way they are choreographed and shot is also worth mentioning. The only question remained in my mind after watching this movie is if a person can smuggle so much into our country just like that, what happens in reality? May be they might have done it for the movie but still i had this question. If you are ok with a dose of violence and want a good music watch Ayan.
